Plan selection is a major commitment, with potentially heavy impact on Members’ lives. Choosing the right plan is a frustrating and confusing point in time.


We helped Florida Blue identify two key challenges: members dropping off during the plan renewal process and underutilization of preventative care benefits. These issues led to lower renewal rates and higher provider costs.

Plan Wizard is an intelligent plan match tool that combines member utilization data with new user input to generate custom recommendations, prioritized and contextualized based on a Member’s unique needs.


The experience is comprised of two main parts: Q&A and Plan Match Results.

The Q&A interactively guides users through a series of questions to confirm or select preferences for critical plan decision criteria. Key features include:


  • Progressive Disclosure: Each question appears on its own page to simplify the interface and reduce cognitive overload.

  • Educational Checkpoints: Contextual explanations help users understand how each choice affects their plan match results, highlighting why each question matters.

  • Personalized Pre-fill: Leveraging members’ historical usage data, Plan Wizard pre-fills relevant information and offers suggestions, minimizing manual input and streamlining the experience.

  • Parallel Scroll Interaction: A sticky left rail keeps key reference information visible as users scroll through results, ensuring context is maintained.

  • Plan Comparison: Members can compare up to three plans at once. On mobile, plans are viewed by swiping, while larger screens display plans side-by-side.
